State · California Contractors State License Board (CSLB)

C-8 Concrete and C-29 Masonry

Concrete and masonry are separate classifications. CSLB uses masonry as its own example: a C-29 cannot advertise work outside it.

“Every person licensed pursuant to this chapter shall include his license number in: (a) all construction contracts; (b) subcontracts and calls for bid; and (c) all forms of advertising”

Business and Professions Code §7030.5CSLB classifications

What it covers

“A concrete contractor forms, pours, places, finishes and installs specified mass, pavement, flat and other concrete work; and places and sets screeds for pavements or flatwork.”

CSLB C-8, 16 CCR

“A masonry contractor installs concrete units and baked clay products; concrete, glass and clay block; natural and manufactured stone; terra cotta; and fire brick or other material for refractory work.”

California · every trade

CSLB counts any website or post that asks for work on the internet as advertising.

On your website

Put the number in the footer of every page and beside every quote form, under the business name it is issued to. Read every page as an ad: that is the safe reading of these rules.
