Booking

How they book.

“The garage door category is considered an urgent category because consumers often call garage door professionals for time-sensitive, urgent needs, such as a garage door that won't open or close.”
Google, on why it screens this trade harder. Google Local Services, business screening (US)
  1. 01

    The stuck door

A broken spring or a door off its track traps the car inside or out. A spring holds enough stored tension that professionals call replacing it too dangerous to do alone, so the page should push straight to a call, not a tutorial.

  2. 02

    The new door

Style, insulation, windows and openers. They want to see options before they book a visit.

  3. 03

    The trust check

Garage door scams follow the same pattern: a too-good price gets someone inside, then the number changes once they are in the garage. The BBB advises checking the business name against the ad and asking for proof of license and insurance before work starts. Show that proof before anyone has to ask.

On the site

Must haves.

Six things a garage door website has to get right.

  • Same-day line

Tap to call, and whether you do same-day repairs, at the top of every page.

  • Repair or replace

Two clear paths: fix what is broken, or choose a new door.

  • Door gallery

Doors you have installed, by style, so people can point and say that one.

  • Openers

The opener brands you install and service.

  • City rules

    License number

Your license number in the footer of every page, where people check it. New York City and California require the number in their ads.

  • Real business

Your registered business name, exactly as it appears on your license, plus a real address. The BBB warns that garage door scammers often use generic names that are not a registered business, so a name and address that match is what tells a careful visitor you are real.

Emergency path

Three taps.

What someone with a stuck door does on a phone, in that order.

  1. 1

    They search

The door will not move, and the car is stuck inside or out. They search on a phone for whoever can come today, not whoever paid for the top ad.

  2. 2

    They tap

The number has to be a real tap-to-call link, visible without scrolling past a photo. A phone number baked into an image is not clickable.

  3. 3

    They decide fast

A person who answers, or a fast text back, keeps the job. Anyone who has to wait until Monday for a reply is already calling someone else.

Proof to show

What to show.

What a garage doors site should publish, so people can check it before they call.

  • License and insurance

Your license number and proof of insurance, visible, not just promised on a call. The BBB's own warning on garage door scams names a mismatched or missing business name as the first sign of trouble, so a name a visitor can check against the license is part of the proof.

  • Spring danger

A broken spring is not a DIY fix. Professionals treat replacing a garage door spring as dangerous work on its own, because of how much tension a torsion spring holds. Saying that plainly is both the safety case and the reason the job costs what it does.

  • Installed doors, named

Real doors you installed, sorted by style, with the neighborhood named. It shows the work is recent and local, not a manufacturer catalog photo.

Local pages

Your city.

License rules change at the state line, and often at the city line.

Does my license number have to be on my website?+

In some places it does. For garage doors work, New York City and California put the license number in every ad, and the safe reading is that your website is one. Each rule is linked to its source, on this page or its city page. Checked 2026-10-05. Not legal advice.

Why does Google check garage door companies more?+

Google treats garage door as an urgent category and puts providers through extra screening, including Advanced Verification, for its Local Services ads. Show the same proof on your own site: your business name, address and license.
