Booking

How they book.

Windows and doors are planned buys slowed by a real trust problem: high-pressure, multi-hour home presentations are the industry's own named reason buyers delay or avoid a company altogether.

  1. 01

    The problem

A drafty window, a sticking door, a pane fogged between the glass. Before they call anyone, they are already weighing repair against replacement: a worn hinge or weatherstripping on a frame that is still sound is a repair, a warped or rotted frame or fog that keeps coming back is not.

  2. 02

    The options

Materials, styles and glass, plus the ENERGY STAR and NFRC ratings serious buyers now compare before they compare price. They want to see the options on houses like theirs.

  3. 03

    The trust check

Replacement window sales carry a real trust problem: industry research names bait-and-switch pricing and multi-hour, high-pressure home presentations as the leading reason buyers delay or walk away, and window complaints run second only to car repairs at the BBB. A clear quote in writing, with no pressure to sign the same day, is what tells a careful buyer you are different.

On the site

Must haves.

Six things a window and door website has to get right.

  • Products by type

Windows, entry doors, patio doors, storm doors. A page each, with what you install.

  • Honest energy claims

No set percentage off energy bills unless you can prove it. New York City names that exact example. Put the ENERGY STAR and NFRC numbers for what you install on the page instead of a vague promise.

  • Brands and warranties

The makers you install and what their warranties cover. Say which part is the manufacturer's, defects in the glass or frame, and which is yours: a manufacturer warranty does not cover a bad install, so your own workmanship warranty is what closes that gap.

  • Financing, clearly

If you offer promotional financing, say the real terms. A true 0% rate and a deferred-interest plan are not the same thing: deferred interest gets charged in full, back to the purchase date, if the balance is not paid off in time. A buyer surprised by that bill does not call you again.

  • City rules

    License number

Your license number in the footer of every page, where people check it. New York City and California require the number in their ads.

  • Installed photos

Real installs, inside and out, with the town.

Seasons

When it moves.

Window and door demand follows two different calendars: the weather that makes installing easier, and the season homeowners actually notice a problem. The site should say which is which.

The install window

Hurricane season

JFMAMJJASOND
  • The install window

April to May and September to October

Spring and fall bring milder, drier weather that makes sealing and fitting a new unit easier, so both are the preferred install season and the busiest stretch to book. Say plainly if that means a longer lead time.

  • Hurricane season

    June to November

NOAA's Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, with August through October carrying most of the activity. In hurricane-prone areas, impact-window and door inquiries build ahead of the season, not during it: say plainly if ordering now means missing this year's window.

  • Cold snap inquiries

A hard freeze is when someone notices a drafty window and finally calls, even though the install itself goes easier in milder weather. Say that a winter call still gets scheduled, even if the work waits for a better stretch.

Proof to show

What to show.

What a windows and doors site should publish, so people can check it before they call.

A hand reaching for the handle of a white French-pane sliding door, its glass panes and grille visible
  • License and insurance

Your license where the state requires one, and proof of insurance, visible on the page, not just promised on a call. California licenses this work under CSLB C-17 Glazing and D-28 Doors; many other states set no state license at all for the trade, so say plainly what you carry.

  • Two warranties

A manufacturer's warranty covers defects in the glass or frame, often five to twenty years. It does not cover a bad install. Say what your own workmanship warranty covers separately, air and water leaks from the install itself, so a buyer is not surprised later by the gap between the two.

  • Hurricane product approval

If you install impact windows or doors in Florida, the product needs a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA): a label reading "Miami-Dade County Product Control Approved," with a tested missile-impact rating under the Florida Building Code's High-Velocity Hurricane Zone rules. Show the NOA number for what you install, not just the word hurricane-rated.

Does my license number have to be on my website?+

In some places it does. For windows and doors work, New York City and California put the license number in every ad, and the safe reading is that your website is one. Each rule is linked to its source, on this page or its city page. Checked 2026-10-05. Not legal advice.

Can I say new windows cut energy bills?+

Only what you can prove. New York City gives that exact example: no set percentage off energy bills unless it rests on provable facts. Show the product's ENERGY STAR and NFRC ratings instead and let people compare.

What does a website cost?+

A website project starts at $5,000, one time. The monthly plan is $2,500 a month with the build included, plus GEO, upkeep and email marketing, with a 3-month minimum. Either way, you see a free demo of your new site in 48 hours first, and pay nothing until it is delivered.

Will a new site get me more calls?+

It is built to help. Clear pages for the jobs you want, your license and the towns you cover can help more of the people who find you pick up the phone. Nobody can promise a number of calls, and we will not.
