Nobody follows a plumber for fun. But they check your Facebook before they book, and they ask Nextdoor who to call when a pipe bursts.

Dead page

Your last post is from two summers ago. A homeowner checking you out wonders if you’re still in business.

Holiday filler

“Happy Plumbers Day” says nothing. “Replaced a burst line in Oak Park before the ceiling came down” gets a neighbor’s attention.

Silent recommendations

A neighbor asks Nextdoor for a roofer. Three people tag a competitor. You never hear about it.

The burst line

A finished job at a sample plumber, then twelve weeks of the page a homeowner checks before she calls.

A plumber’s crew lead sends a job photo and a line from the truck, which becomes a post on the business’s page and three other cuts with the house number left out. Sample page. The last post was 812 days old before the work, and 2 days old after twelve weeks. 10 of 14 finished jobs were posted, and 4 waiting on a customer’s OK. Burst line behind a kitchen wall, caught before the ceiling came down. Old galvanized out, new copper in, water back on by 3. Elm Center, this Tuesday.

The check She looks the plumber up. The last post is a holiday greeting from 26 months ago.

  1. The check: She looks the plumber up. The last post is a holiday greeting from 26 months ago.
  2. The truck: Dom sends one photo and one line from the truck.
  3. The post: We write it from his line. The read takes out the house number.
  4. The rooms: The same job, cut for neighbors, for searchers, for people scrolling past.
  5. Twelve weeks: Real jobs, a quiet stretch in the freeze, four still waiting on a yes.
  6. The next check: The next homeowner finds this week’s work, and calls.

The cycle

Lead stage. Posts prove you’re real and working nearby. They send people to the website and booking, and fresh reviews from marketing give them something to say.

  1. Lead

Everything that gets you a lead.

More people find you and reach out.

  2. Prospect

    Turn interest into a sale.

More of them say yes, and you never chase.

  3. Client

    Keep the job moving.

Jobs run on time, with less of you managing them.

  4. Kept or closed

    What happens after the job.

Finished work brings in the next job.

  5. Growth

Feed it back into the machine.

Every finished job helps bring the next lead.

Then it starts again.

CRM: Customers, conversations, bookings, jobs and employee tasks in one place, across all five.

The outcome

Less Work

A photo from the truck is all we need.

Less Time

Nobody in the crew has to learn captions.

Your questions

Is Nextdoor good for contractors?

As a free place to collect neighbor recommendations, yes. As a paid lead source it is unproven, because most of the evidence comes from Nextdoor itself, so test it before you spend.

Is Nextdoor good for contractors? Costs and limits

Is Nextdoor free for businesses?

The Business Page is free, and neighbors can recommend you on it. Ads, Local Deals and Opportunity Alerts cost money.

Do Facebook ads work for contractors?

They can for jobs people plan, like remodels, roofs and system replacements, and less for emergencies people search for. Send the ad to a page with a quote form and judge it on booked jobs, not clicks.

Can I post photos of a customer’s house?

Ask first, and leave out the house number and anything personal. A job photo with the town and the work done says enough.
