How to get
HVAC leads.

Get HVAC leads by selling the two tune-up seasons, keeping a maintenance list, and buying Google leads at a median of about $128 only when your techs have room. The list matters most, because it decides who gets the call when the furnace quits.

Two seasons

ENERGY STAR tells homeowners to book an annual pre-season check, with the cooling system in spring and the heating system in fall. That is two reasons a year to call everyone you have ever served, and the advice comes from a federal program, not from you.

Send the reminder six weeks before the first hot week and six weeks before the first cold one. Tie it to the system they own: “Your heat pump is due for its spring check” beats a coupon.

The maintenance list

A customer on a maintenance agreement does not search when the AC stops. They call you. Offer an agreement at the end of every repair and every install, while the tech is still in the house.

Keep the equipment, its age and its last service date on each record. That turns your list into next year’s replacement work: a system past its expected life gets a call before it fails, not after.

Peak weeks

The Bureau of Labor Statistics says technicians may be on call for emergencies, and that overtime and irregular schedules come with peak heating and cooling seasons. So your HVAC lead problem flips twice a year: too few in the shoulder months, too many in a heat wave.

Set your ad budget by open slots on the board, not by the calendar. When the week is full, cut spend and put the money behind the next tune-up push. When nobody can answer, a paid lead is money burned.

On Google

LocaliQ splits the trade in two. Air conditioning work paid a median $127.74 a lead, at $9.68 a click and a 6.56% conversion rate. Heating and furnace work paid $129.02, at $9.30 and 7.48%.

If you book 1 lead in 3, an air conditioning job costs about $383.22 in ads. That can work on a replacement and never on a tune-up, so point paid search at repair and install terms and let your list fill the tune-ups.

HVAC is on Google’s Local Services Ads list as “HVAC (heating or air conditioning)”, so check whether your area qualifies. Expect background checks and proof of insurance before you can run.

Show your proof

The EPA requires technicians who maintain, service or repair equipment that could release refrigerant to hold Section 608 certification. Most homeowners have never heard of it, which makes it a plain trust line for your website and your trucks.

Say what you carry: that certification, your license and your insurance. A nervous homeowner with no heat is choosing between phone numbers, and proof on the page is what picks one.

Count booked calls

Track each lead source by booked calls and sold replacements, not by leads. A source that brings tune-ups at a loss can still be your best one if those homes buy the next system from you, so give it a full year before you judge it.

Your questions

How do HVAC companies get leads in the slow season?

From their own list. Spring and fall tune-up reminders fill the shoulder months at no ad cost, and those visits are where next year’s replacements get found.

Should I pay for HVAC leads in a heat wave?

Only for what you can reach today. If the board is full, a paid lead goes to a competitor anyway. Cut spend and raise it again when you have open slots.
