Contractor
website cost.

A contractor website costs $720 over three years on a self-serve plan, $8,083 on a done-for-you plan, and $6,500 or more from an agency before upkeep. At a median $165.67 for a contractor lead on Google, the done-for-you plan is worth about 49 paid leads.

Three real prices

B12 publishes its contractor site prices. The self-serve Website plan is $20 a month billed yearly. The Professional plan is $169 a month billed yearly, with an optional $1,999 setup where its team builds the site for you.

Agencies price the job instead of the month. WebFX puts basic design for a small business at $6,500 to $15,000, and says bundling SEO with the build adds $2,000 to $10,000.

Most contractor site pricing online is a range on a blog from someone selling one. These are the prices we could read on a vendor’s own page, so the list is short on purpose.

Price it in jobs

LocaliQ’s median cost per lead for general contractors on Google search is $165.67, across 3,211 home services campaigns. So $720 is about 4 paid leads, and $8,083 is about 49.

A better test is your gross profit on one job. If a remodel leaves you $3,000 after labor and materials, the $8,083 plan pays for itself after 3 jobs in 3 years. Work the same sum with your own average job before you sign.

General contractors also convert the worst on that list, at a 2.61% median conversion rate from click to lead. A contractor website that turns more clicks into calls makes every ad you run cheaper.

The license number

This is the line most contractor website quotes leave out. Florida requires the registration or certification number of each contractor in each offer of services, business proposal, bid, contract or advertisement.

California requires the license number in all forms of advertising for work that needs a contractor’s license, and its board counts any electronic transmission as advertising. It is a misdemeanor there to advertise work without a valid license in that classification.

Put the number in the footer of every page, in every landing page and in every ad. Rules differ by state, so check with your own licensing board.

What the site must do

A homeowner on a contractor website wants three answers: do you do this job, do you work in my town, and can I see one you finished. Give each service and each area its own page, and show real job photos with the town named.

Put the phone number and a short quote form at the top of every page. Ask only for what you need to call back. Every extra box costs you requests.

Who owns it

Before you pay, ask who holds the domain, who holds the code and what happens to the site when you stop paying. A low monthly fee can be a rental that ends with nothing in your hands.

Our answer is the same as our Terms: You always keep your name, logo, photos, copy and domain. We keep the code and the system behind the site.

What we charge

We publish our prices. We build your website from your answers in 48 hours and walk you through it on a call. It stays a free sample until you pick a plan, from $1,500 a month. You have 7 days. If you don’t, it comes down and you owe nothing.

That plan is more than a contractor website. It answers leads, follows up and sends you a monthly report, so weigh it against a person doing that work, not against a site.

Your questions

Does a contractor need a license number on their website?

In Florida and California the rule reaches advertising in any medium, and a website is the plainest case. Other states differ, so ask your licensing board. Adding the number to the footer costs nothing.

Is a Google Business Profile enough without a website?

It can bring calls in a small town. A contractor website gives you pages for each service and area, a place to send every ad, and something you control when a listing changes.
