How to get
plumbing leads.

Get plumbing leads from the calls nobody else answers and from leaks homeowners have not found yet. Be the number that picks up at night, own your town on Google, and use the EPA’s leak figures as your reason to call past customers. Paid search runs a median $129.02 a lead.

Answer the night call

Plumbing is the trade where the customer needs you now. The Bureau of Labor Statistics says plumbers are often on call for emergencies, so evening and weekend work is common. A burst pipe at 10 p.m. goes to whoever picks up.

Decide who holds the phone each night and put it in writing. Every missed emergency is a lead you already earned and lost. If you do not run nights, say so on the page and take the morning slot instead.

Find the hidden leak

The EPA gives you a reason to reach out that has nothing to do with selling. It says the average household’s leaks can waste more than 9,300 gallons a year, and that 9% of homes have leaks wasting 50 gallons or more a day.

Send those two numbers to past customers with a flat-rate leak check. WaterSense runs Fix a Leak Week each year, March 16 to 22 in 2026, and that gives you a date to build it around.

A leak check gets you into the home. The running toilet you fix today is how you get the water heater call next year.

On Google

Plumbing paid a median $129.02 a lead on Google search, at $10.49 a click and a 7.63% conversion rate, in LocaliQ’s data. Its 4.97% click rate is the second lowest of the 16 home services rows, so your ad has to say the thing people want at that moment.

Write separate ads for separate problems: drain, leak, water heater, no hot water. Put the town and the phone number in each, and turn on call ads for the hours someone answers.

Plumbers are on Google’s Local Services Ads list as well. Screening covers owners, field workers, insurance and licenses, so have your papers ready before you apply.

Show the license

The BLS says most states and some localities require plumbers to be licensed. So your license number is proof a handyman cannot show. Put it on the site, the van and every invoice.

Build the referrals

Property managers, real estate agents and home inspectors all meet plumbing problems before the owner calls anyone. Ask each one to keep your number, and answer their first call the same hour.

One property manager with 50 doors can send you work every year, with no ad spend behind it.

Count by problem

Log each lead by what was wrong as well as where it came from. A $129 lead that books a small drain clear can lose money. The same lead on a water heater can pay for itself. The sheet shows you which ads to keep and which words to cut.

Your questions

What is the fastest way to get plumbing leads?

Pick up the phone at hours other plumbers do not, then turn on Google call ads for those same hours. Both depend on someone being there to answer.

Should a plumber buy shared leads?

Emergency work goes to the first plumber who answers, so a lead sent to several pros is only worth it if you can call within minutes. Run your booked rate before you renew.
